Political career:
Elected as a member of Parliament in the House of Commons, for the riding of Verdun - Saint-Henri - Saint-Paul - Pointe Saint-Charles (Quebec), a first time in the general election of 1993 and re-elected in 1997 and 2000. During this period, SENATOR RAYMOND LAVIGNE was co-Chair of the Library committee and has participated in many other committees’ meetings. Appointed to the Senate on March 26, 2002.
Professional career and Community involvement:
Businessman, Mr. Lavigne started his career in a factory in his neighbourhood. After studying in administration and marketing at the University of Montreal, he opened his first furniture store, Raymond Lavigne Furniture. Shortly after, he was the owner of two stores with 28 employees.

Principal fundraiser of Droit de Vivre, a group for disabled people;

- Member of the Club Optimiste and of Côte St-Paul's Club Richelieu.
Civil Status:
Born in Montreal, on November 16, 1945. Son of Octave Lavigne and Jeanne Laviolette. For the last 20 years, he has shared his life with Mrs. Carmen Robichaud and has a daughter, Tania.
